Narrowly avoiding jail, new Dad Robbie vows to turn over a new leaf. A visit to a whisky distillery inspires him and his new found friends to seek a way out of their hopeless lives. Robbie's discovery that he has a nose for the hard stuff means whisky could be his ultimate salvation. However when an extremely valuable old whisky comes up for auction, the friends plan an ultra lo-tech heist. Loach plays homage to Whisky Galore! as well as to Bill Forsyth's That Sinking Feeling, and the title makes reference to the 2% of whisky which evaporates in the cask every year.
